Who are ‘salt’ of the earth? They are the humble, the ones who mourn, the meek,

  • GOD CALLS US TO WORSHIP

We have gathered here this morning in gratitude for God’s blessings and to offer gifts.

What are these gifts?

Today we offer prayers, our praise, and open our hearts to God’s word.

These we should offer unto the Lord, but does the Lord ask us to offer anything else?

Let us offer the gifts of our hands, our lives and give of ourselves to those in need.

We will embrace the mission of Jesus as our own!

  • SALUTATION

      PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God, you placed us in the world to be its salt. We are afraid of committing ourselves, afraid of being stained by the world. We do not want to hear what “they” might have to say, and our salt dissolves as if in water. Forgive us, Jesus.

God, you placed us in the world to be its light. We are afraid of the shadows, afraid of poverty. We do not want to know other people’s struggles, and our light slowly fades away. Forgive us, Jesus.

God, you placed us in the world to live in community. Thus you taught us to love, to share in life, to struggle for bread and justice, your “truth incarnate” in our life.  So be it, Jesus. Amen.

(silent prayers of confession)
